The alternative pop artist platinumcore, the moniker of Lucas Munoz, is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Central Florida. Originally a native of New Jersey, platinumcore began playing the guitar at four, learning from their father, a professional jazz guitarist. Platinumcore moved to Florida in 2010 at 14 and became influenced by guitarists such as Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Gary Moore, and Eric Johnson. Platinumcore began playing in the local Central Florida scene, with their father playing a combination of jazz, Latin, blues, and fusion.
At 18, platinumcore attended Warner University for their undergrad studies and became involved in the performing arts. They then played guitar for the university ' s chapel band and jazz ensemble. In 2018, platinumcore began delving into the jazz scene within South Florida by studying the genre. Platinumcore strived to hone their guitar, singing, and songwriting skills over the next four years when they released his first single, “ wilted roses, ” in 2022. in their brand of dark pop, they displayed their vulnerability and a genre-defying sound through song such as “ still searching.” Munoz within that year experimented with hyperpop such as songs “the backrooms ” and “ cookies & cream ” mixing experimental guitar soloing to glitched synth and heavy-hitting bass.
2025 is the objective for their final phase of metamorphosis as they are entering the event horizon. Within the eclectic yet heavy sound of hyperpop, metalcore, indie-pop, and hip-hop of Vital Signs, platinumcore is on the path to emergence as the anti-guitar hero. The vulnerable and introspective lyrics of the single is the start of platinumcore next phase as an alternative rock musician in the ever-changing landscape.
